Out of the original 27 contestants, 21 remain. I admit that I dropped one of my characters inadvertently, but more on that later. For now, here are some simple stats:

-The average score was 14.8.

-The lowest score was Miss Meanieheadz, with 4 points. (Considering she didn’t have a swimsuit on and her photo was incomprehensibly related to her name, I think that’s probably fair.)

-The highest scores were Miss Masochist and Miss Chief with 23 points each. Second highest was Miss Cyber Crime with 22 points. Third highest was Miss Fury with 20 points. All other contestants were below 20 points.

-Six contestants attempted bribes this round. Their average scores were 13.6, a full point below the regular average.

-The average score of contestants who did not attempt a bribe was 15.3.

-Four contestants were penalized for size errors. (550 is not 500!) There was another contestant who submitted a 500px photo but didn’t get penalized for it, but that may have just ended up unrecorded. These stats are calculated as if there were no penalty.

-Nightshade gave the most points, averaging just over 4 points per contestant. Belladonna, Chastity, and Shadow were all around the same range with 3.5, 3.6, and 3.7 points average per contestant, respectively.

-There are four contestants whose names start with M. Apparently, Miss World Domination girls like alliteration.

-I’m working on figuring out which judges like which attributes of the photos, but that’s going to take a long time, and I may not share my results publically.

Yaretzi was the tenth doll I got for my collection, so I chose her to be the subject of my 10/10/10 photo. I’m really happy with how this one turned out. Something about the colors and textures really pleases me–I may print this one out and get it framed even. (I might also bring it to my Costume Design class as a “texture” example.) On the whole, I am glad I decided to try some night photography. I rarely do fancy things with my camera, so it’s exciting when things turn out nice.

So, last night I decided to try some new eyechips (purple) in my Stica, since I had to open her up anyways to replace a chip that fell out at Saturday’s meetup. I put in a pair of Pupa Paradise chips I had, and oooh I really can’t turn back. Unfortunately, this means she is no longer Ninja Yura. (Ninja Yura will be a Rei Ayanami Pullip, unless for some reason Rei turns out to be totally wrong, which is unlikely.)

I decided it was time to write up profiles for my dolls, mostly so I could talk about the dolls I want and they would make sense in context. :)

 Note: most of my dolls live in one apartment building. Apartments are as follows: Kitty/Cardea, Louis, Hypatia/Yaretzi/Adalia, Lark/Henko (and parents), Lola. Carbine lives off-site with her parents. The Yuras live in various places, none of which are in the apartment building.

I got really excited this morning when I realized that I could attend Stitches Midwest on at least the Thursday and possibly Friday morning before Shaldra arrives on the 20th of August. I started looking around the classes, imagining which ones I would attend and gain new techniques and inspiration. And then…I decided to add one of the two I was deciding between to my cart and see what it would cost me.

As written from my nice shiny desktop client. Web clients suck,  particularly when accidentally removing the focus from the text area and pressing backspace makes it go back, and lose your post. And the only way to recover your LJ draft is by refreshing, which you don’t realize until you’ve already replaced the good draft with crap.

Anyways, this is a continuation from my last doll post, with the last three Yuras as well as info on a few other dolls I’m currently considering.

The fourth Yura is Hisako, a shy pop idol. She has a special relationship with Cardea. Also, she’s dead! She’s actually a ghost in a regular body. (Think of it like a gigai from Bleach…she started out as an Arrancar-type character, but ended up different because of a couple external factors, one of which is that Bleach is now sucking even more than before.) Hisako is an Angelique Pullip with a cobalt blue CanCan wig, blue Pupa Paradise eyechips, and Dollmore glasses.

The fifth Yura is Yun, Hisako’s “sister”. Her parents took Hisako in, and I don’t think they know they’re versions of each other. Yun is a miko and a bit younger than Hisako. Yun has the light blue Dollmore wig shown in the pic above (on Zero) and will be a Xiao Fan Pullip. There’s a dent box Xiao Fan I’ve got my eye on…since I’m expecting a partial refund for the delay on Alte, she should be within my budget. Just gotta see how much it ends up being. If I got her, I’d get her delivered before PUDDLE so she could be rewigged and rechipped by then. :) IF YOU WANT TO SPLIT XIAO FAN, LET ME KNOW. :O $25 stock only, $30 stock+wig+chips.

The sixth and final Yura is Ninja Yura, who would probably be my favorite if I could bear to actually pick one. She’s a shapeshifter, a bakeneko. Kind of a demon kitty. She normally looks human (or catgirl-humanoid) but her true form is more like a little fluffy kitty. Out of all the Yura dolls, she’ll probably be the only one to actually get cat ears. I don’t know what kind I want to get, though. I also changed which doll I wanted for her, but now I don’t remember…she was originally going to be a Kaela but Kaela just doesn’t do it for me. (Maybe a Rei.) Ninja’s wig is the one that got screwed up from Leekeworld, too…I’m not sure what I want to do for it instead. If anyone knows where to get a blue-grey ponytail wig, please let me know.

Moving on to people who aren’t wigged in blue…

The newly-announced August release, Melissa, has pretty much stolen my heart. But in a really weird way. I love her stock, and I want to take it and use it on Zero and other people. And I love her wig, that’s going to be Miss White’s new wig. And her eyechips are the perfect Yura blue. …but somehow, all that aside, I can’t bring myself to leave the doll herself. She’s just too lovely. So instead, last night as I was making my first D&D character, I kept her in mind…

and now she’s going to be a communist elf. (Or something like that. Communist definitely, elf possibly not.) She’ll have black hair (Naomi’s wig), not sure on her eyes, and probably won’t wear the police outfit too much, but I’m really kind of excited to have this really random character joining my cast. I think it’d be really fun to get a Lucia as well (since Lucia is the Police Dal, and, er, well…she’d be kind of Nazi-ish, and they would compete, and it would be funny. To me at least. ^^; ) but I’m not so sure about Lucia. Depends on money and owner pics, probably. I hope to be able to pre-order Melissa after PUDDLE. She shouldn’t be too expensive.

However…I also plan to buy one more doll. I want to get a Tezca for Shaldra. She really likes her (though she doesn’t admit it much) and I want to buy it for her. Right now I want to get her some extra shoes, too, but I’m not sure about what style to get. Any suggestions? (Suggestions for other clothes to buy to give with the doll would be good, too, I hate to see a doll with only her stock outfit.) I don’t expect her to do much with her, since she’s more a figurine girl, but I think she’d like having Tezca.

Believe it or not, I could probably keep going here, but I don’t think I will. I’m mostly doll’d out for now. I am rather proud, though, that all of my dolls (plus Brink) are currently out and displayed around my room, and I’m totally fine with it. :) I can get another one or two just fine. I do need to start thinking about what to get for my apartment, though!

Enchanted Glass
by Diana Wynne Jones

The newest fare from my favorite author is an excellent addition to her works. Her last two books have both been good, but somewhat lighter fare and quicker reads than some of her older novels. However, I found Enchanted Glass to be quite as clever and subtly deep as her older books. It had the signature wit and mastery of plot that I’m used to with Mrs. Jones, and I am very pleased to have it in my collection–I just need to get a physical copy to complement my Kindle edition now! Since I decided to buy this book purely on the author, I really couldn’t remember whether it was a kid’s book, a young adult book, or an adult novel. From reading through it, I’m quite pleased that I didn’t know, because like most of Mrs. Jone’s works, it crosses the boundaries in the best ways possible. I think any adult who is willing to read a lighter work of fiction would enjoy this book.

Mortal Engines
by Philip Reeve

In the far-flung future, a semi-dystopian society is doing something something blah blah blah. If I went on that tangent, no one would want to read this book and its sequels, and everyone should. This book is an ADVENTURE. It’s epic and gorgeous but not at all sugar-coated. I’m hesitant to call it "gritty" because, well, that always seemed to me like it was something forced on a book rather than just what the book IS. This story is one of the most interesting ones I’ve read in a long time. Whether you love or hate steampunk, if you can handle a sci-fi-ish universe set, yes, in the far future, you should try this book. Why? Because of Municipal Darwinism. The plot itself is awesome, but it’s the world itself that makes the plot what it is. It’s a town-eat-town world, and London is hunting for prey. Unfortunately, the books are going out of print, so check your library or your local bookstore ASAP! They are most definitely worth reading. I can’t wait for my copies of the next two to arrive so I can continue re-reading these. (Before you say anything, I read them originally in my high school library, and then moved away…or else I’d already own them all.)

Hisako and Yura Zero are a very special pair to me. Neither are my own creation. Both are Shaldra’s characters, and though they look quite alike, they’re not twins.

They’re alternate-universe versions of one character, Yura. Although the base Yura is a catgirl, I don’t know if I’ll ever end up with cat ears for all of them. I can’t seem to find any I really like. There are six forms currently. Here they are in order of physical difference to the original Yura.

The main Yura is a shy girl with psychic powers who tends to hang out in graveyards. She works as a Shinto priestess during the day. She has long navy-blue hair, usually pulled up into a high ponytail. The second Yura is Yura Red. Yura Red is one of my personal favorites, as she’s probably the most outspoken (apart from Zero, but Zero’s kind of malicious). Yura Red is a flaming lesbian and hits on girls. Constantly. She’s probably the most dangerous to the rest of my doll collection. She has blue hair with a red streak, which will probably end up staying plain white so I can use Chelsea’s wig on a Saras: http://pullipstyle.com/pullipstyle/product_info.php?cPath=21_60&products_id=536 Although, as Saras has not been released, I’m not dead-set on it. She’s likely going to have a boobitsu, too, because I think it’d be really fun. All the Yuras are supposed to have large chests, but since body type really tends to reflect personality, I think most of them will end up on type 4s.

The third Yura, Yura Zero, already exists in my hot little hands. She’s the evil one of the bunch, created so through being constantly dumped and forgotten and ignored throughout life…something that tends to happen to the other Yuras as well.
